Ladies And Gentlemen..Start Your Engines

So I assume that if I had to guess most of you coming to this blog are here for the pet talk and not anything related to Nascar. As you get to know me more you will understand that Nascar and motorsports are a big part of my life…Actually it helps me pay for my life. I work at the Daytona International Speedway and if you know even a little bit about the sport you will know that this past weekend the Nascar Sprint Cup Series  was once again at the World Center of Racing. (Can you tell I am used to writing about the track?)

Getting ready for the Driver Intros

Anyway.. For those of you not remotely interested in Nascar I am going to merge the two this post.  NASCAR is a family sport and if you have seen it on tv you can see the whole family will pack up the camper/RV and head into our famous infield to camp and have a racing vacation. We love them for it.

What I personally love is that we allow the pets to come with, after all they are just as much a family member right?

Enjoying the action from the Air Conditioning

I’ve seen all kinds of pets over the years. Dogs are the norm but a few cats get in on the action. I’ve seen  parrots, ferrets, and even a snake.. although I was a little freaked out by that one. Eek!

Even the drivers can’t seem to leave the pets behind. Look at these cutie patooties. These lovelies belong to Kyle Busch driver of the Number 18 M&M’s car.

And of course since I am a little biased on the Chihuahua front.. here is a cute pic of Lola…Guarding daddy(Kevin Harvick) before the race. LOVE HER!

Here’s one more for you… Driver A. J. Allmendinger has a budding superstar pup. His pup was one of the pups in Marley and Me(which by the way I saw once and cannot watch again). How cool is that to have your dog on the silver screen?

Of course the drivers have pets and love them like family..but 2 drivers took it one step further. Both Ryan Newman and Greg Biffle have started foundations just for animals.

The Ryan Newman Foundation and The Greg Biffle Foundation were both founded in 2005 and along with their wives have donated so much to helping save animals and education. I love them for it.

The Greg Biffle Foundation

Some people like myself would take their dog anywhere if you could. My friend and I actually got kicked out of a movie theater once because we snuck her dog in and they saw it on a security camera. Whoops!

I’d love to hear where your dog goes with you! I sometimes bring  Javier  to the hair salon with me. He just sits on my lap and sleeps and I figure if he sheds hair it will just blend in with the other hair right? No big deal!

I also wanted to take the time again to let you know I am taking letters to see who will get to be the foundation or chariety of the month for August. My adsense revenue and percent of sales at myuberpet.com will get a check to help out with expenses. So spread the word and let me know if you would like to be selected. You don’t need to send me anything special…I will look them over and pick one each month.

Let’s do some good people.

Until next time….

Which way to the track?

Who’s That Girl?

So as I stated in the super short post below I am back baby and this blog will be a bit more lively from now on. I’m excited for what the future holds and beyond thrilled about the possibilities of meeting some great animal lovers along the way.

First things first.. Let me formally introduce myself.

I’m Amy.

Whew! That was easy right? Hahaha. How do you ever really begin to explain who you are and what you’re all about without boring the crap out of people. I’m sure you will get to know plenty about me along the way. Just a few short things. I am super passionate about animals. Would do anything for them. I have a great life and family that knows how crazy I can be about my furry family. I am a diehard sports fan. If there is some sort of ball involved and you need a clear cut winner I am all for it. My day job is working in motorsports (Nascar). I have all of my teeth and no tattoos with car numbers. I am crappy at writing perfectly and you will notice that from time to time. I guess that’s a part of my charm..or will annoy the crap out of you.  Either way just know I am glad you are here and you are helping animals along the way.

How you ask? You will notice that I do have ads running on my blog. If I could make them look better or not as annoying I would but you will understand in a second.

My main goal with this blog is to entertain those crazy pet folks that ooh and ahhh when a cute pup goes by. Melt when you see a cutie pie kitty. Laugh your ass off when you see a dog that is wearing an outfit that costs more than yours. I LIVE for that stuff. With all the fun I will also try and bring attention to a few sad and scary issues that our furry little ones face. Trust me.. nothing that will make you cry or cringe..Just things that are important to me and maybe you too. I promise to not show you pictures of any animal with the song Angel playing behind it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That commercial gets me every freaking time.

Ok back to the ads on the site. Starting in August once I get my blogging feet wet, I will be picking an animal charity each month. That will be my “pet” project to help raise money for them.  Clicking on the ads, writing about them to let you know what they are up too, and even a few www.myuberpet.com fundraiser sales will go to said charity.  I hate ads just as much as the next girly but damn if I can’t do something good with them right?

With that being said…if you have a pet foundation or charity or rescue and you want to be featured for a month.. please send me an email and I will for sure review everyone of them. It does not have to be local. Money all spends the same right? At the end of each month I will update everyone on the amount raised and show you a photo of the happy charity with the check. Warm fuzzys for everyone.

Ok guys.. Quick and painless post right? Next time I will introduce you to my crazy Chihuahua Javier. Make sure your bra’s are secure ladies…I’ll explain why next time.

Til then…Go and hug it out with your pets. They will very happy you did.

Pet Fashion Week – What to Expect

Yes, there is a Fashion Week for us pet lovers, or, more correctly for our babies. For those of us who love dressing up our dogs, then a pet fashion show is a not to be missed event. The three biggest shows are held annually in New York, Sao Paulo, Brazil and Tokyo, Japan. So, if you love New York Fashion Week, you’ll definitely love Pet Fashion Week.

See well-dressed dogs stroll and or being carried on the catwalk as they strut their stuff. Visitors will be able to rub shoulders with pet-owning celebs who make it a point of duty to attend these events. After all, their pets must be as fashionable as they are and I totally agree.

Pretty in Pink

If you design fashionable pieces for pets, this may be your chance to be discovered. Both seasoned professionals and beginners alike have items on display. The Brazilian show, which was held in April 2010 also had an exciting grooming competition attached. Pet lovers will definitely appreciate these fashion shows that help keep us abreast of the latest gadgets for our pets. Apart from clothing expect to see the newest in:

•    Bedding
•    Collars
•    Fragrances
•    Jewelry
•    Toys

Well, if you didn’t know before, now you can put Pet Fashion Week on your annual social calendar. Let’s continue to pamper our pets with the best in fashion and accessories. Keeping abreast of these events allow us to know what’s new in the world of pet fashion and how to keep them in comfort.

Keep checking back for information on Pet Fashion Week, NY which will be held August 21-22, 2010. New York’s Pet Fashion Week has been running since 2006 and continues to draw international exhibitors as well as designers. The first of the major shows which was held in Brazil in April was exciting and New York’s show will be just as grand.

Pet Fashion Week, NY 2010 – will you be there?

Note: Our Fashion Fridays post was late this week as your blogger was in an accident.
