Do pets have an internal alarm clock or are they just doing it to piss you off?

dog time perception

Every morning like clockwork my dog wakes me up 10-15 minutes before my alarm clock. EVERY. DAMN. TIME. It’s almost past the point of annoying to being comical. At first it was just super annoying and the last thing I want to do is wake up any earlier than I have to. Well Javier decides what times he wants to get up and then he tells us in the best way he knows how. Big wet kisses to the face.

This is how my morning went down

This is Javier acting like he had nothing to do with waking me up. He is trying to pretend nothing happened.

This is the face of ..OK don’t be mad but I really, REALLY had to pee and I thought you would not mind a cute puppy kiss instead of the nasty alarm clock.

And then we come to this face. A look of disgust. A look that he wants you to remember. Maybe even a look of don’t even think of messing with me or I will pee on your bed. GET UP NOW! I understand the crappy cell phone camera is nothing to write home about but that’s what my REAL alarm clock in on and I had it close.

I’ll always remember dog sitting for a co-worker years back, Liv Lane of Choosing Beauty, and she told me flat out.. My dog Daisy will lick you to death if she sees your eyes are open. If you can fool her into thinking your still sleeping she will leave you alone. Once your eyes are open it’s over. I laughed. How bad could this be? SHE WAS DEAD ON. Sneaky little shit got me right away!! Love her though and Liv for being honestY you will often see Daisy on Liv’s blog. Cutie for sure.

Do you have a little (or big..eek) furry alarm clock in your life? What is the never fail trick they will do to get you up? What do you do to combat that? Let me hear from all of you sleep deprived people out there. I will say this, is that the day I don’t set my alarm for work will be the day Javier decides he is on vacation from his alarm duties..Go Figure.

Just a few little housekeeping things for you all. I will be overhauling the look of this blog soon. I know things can be a little hard to read. SUPER SMALL TEXT. It will be fixed. I promise. I feel a lot older than I am when I am reading it too. I understand.

Also next Friday will be the last week to get you or nominate a pet foundation or rescue in need of funding. We will be picking one for our August rescue of the month. Email me at amy@myuberpet.com to get info or to be considered.

Ok guys.. Have a good start of the weekend and I’ll be back soon.. with that I will leave you with this…Wait for the surprise at the end.

Baby your a Firework!!

I talked a little bit about it on our Facebook Page but just wanted to check in and see how everyones 4th was. I will be the first to admit I am in love with what the holiday stands for but I hate fireworks. Have been scared since I was a kid. Terrified to be exact. Same deal with thunder. The loud sudden bangs send me running in fear. I know some pets have the same fear as I do…then others that handle it like it’s no big deal. My little guy has no issues. I tell my husband that he is scared to make myself feel better. How lame is that?

Did any of you have any episodes over the weekend. Poor pups hiding under the bed? I’ll tell you how my night went..super dumb.

My husband is out of town. Ever since we started dating I told him from day one the 4th is not my thing and he has a free pass to go and do what he wants. I usually spend the night drinking wine and numbing the pain for knowing whats to come. This year was no different. (Although the Speedway had central Florida’s biggest fireworks and I hid out in my office during that). I had the day off from work after a busy weekend and started to relax. 8pm I heard the first little boom from the neighborhood. OK no big deal.. I can do this. A few here a few there. My panic level getting a bit higher. Then quiet.  Super quiet.

AND THEN…

BOOM!

Little did I know we are a half mile from our cities firework show. I didn’t know this last year since it was raining and I was probualy drunk. I get up to get a drink of water and BOOM!!! Super loud like my house was going to explode. I screamed so freaking loud. Said a few things I shouldn’t have and then ran for my blankets. I went upstairs to see if I could see the missles exploding so close to my house.

Then I saw it. The most amazing fireworks I had seen. I had a front row seat from my upstairs guest bedroom. I sat for 30 minutes and watched the beuatful colors and patterns. Granted I looked like something out of Star Wars with a blanket wrapped over my head and my dog sleeping on my lap. Not the perfect picture but funny if anyone could see me.

So that was my night..quiet, then loud, then panic, then amazing. Too bad my pooch slept through EVERYTHING. He missed a good show.

Happy 4th Everyone!!!

Happy Birthday America!

Living Up To Your Name

So you just got a new puppy or kitty and you are so excited to start your new adventure. But the most important thing besides caring for your new best friend is to name him or her right?. When we got our new puppy my husband and I went back and forth over naming rights. It really can get tense.Alot is on the line. We both had opnions  but we both felt strongly that puppy needed to have the best name possible.

What happened in our house was we both felt that our little Chihuahua boy needed a name that fits where he came from. Mexico.(We overlooked the fact that he was born and raised in Minnesota.) He’s more of a tequila/taco guy over a potluck hotdish  dude.We were both in agreement that we would not name him after Mexican food or drink. My Husband wanted him to have a macho name and I wanted it to be cute and sweet.

We just could not agree on things at all. We made list after list. Scratched them off and put them back on. I even sunk so low as to look up a newspaper in Mexico and read the birth announcements.  Is that weird?

So after a day or two we had it down to two names. The Hubs wanted Papi after Beverly Hills Chihuahua..BTW..he will kill me if he knew I gave up the goods about him watching and liking that movie. I on the other hand found my perfect name in the worst way possible. I was watching the news one night and sadly a woman was robbed at gunpoint for her BRA believe it or not. HER BRA PEOPLE!!!!! But the guys name that got busted was named Javier. For whatever reason that name jumped at me and would not leave.

Papi or Javier?

Javier won by a vote of 2-0 in our house after I told my hubby about the bra story. My husband  tends to like a good bra and it was an easy sell after that. So Javier Bachmeier was born….After a crazy bra thief.

So now 2 years later I have a major problem in my house. Mr. Bachmeier…Javier not Jeff has had this issue for a while. I tried to look the other way. I tried to make up excuses. I was in denial. My confession to you all today is this…My sweet lovely little boy is totally living up to his name. He Is OBSESSED with bras. OMG!!! You really have no idea what a crazy thing this is. He will hunt them down all over the place. Dirty clothes hamper..clean drawers..suitcases when we travel. He will even be as sneaky and get them out of the bathroom when im in the shower so he knows I can’t get out to grab him. CRAZY!

Here he is with all of his conquests while I was in the bathroom. Sneaky little thing.

Jeff my husband thinks it’s cute but ladies…we ALL know how expensive bras can be..am I right? Cesar Milan needs to come and hang out for a day or so.. for real.

So that’s the story about my cute baby Javier? Does your pet have a great naming story? Can you top my little bra thief? I would love to hear them.

Coming up next time…

It’s race weekend in Daytona Beach. Most of you know my full time job is working for the Daytona International Speedway. I think it would be a great fit to talk about the animals of Nascar and the drivers who love them.

It’s going to be amazing!!

Ok…So over the past year you have read many great blog posts and I assume you have learned something along the way. I know I have. Jessica has been great. I will forever be greatful for her insight and passion that she has showed.

I personally have been away from this blog but I’m back baby. I will be taking this blog to new heights and we will be talking about everything. Think 1 part Animal Planet with another part Entertainment Tonight. ( you will see in a few weeks)

As they say in the biz… Stay Tuned.
